Open Letter to SECO
Dear Mr. Egler,
It is hard to imagine why the Swiss authorities would consider to
continue the providing of grants which benefit/subsidize directly a
certain logging company. A company where the shareholders and directors
are not known and this information is considered to be 'some secret
which can only be extracted with spying activities'.
Clearly this should be publically available information not only under
national law but also when it comes to donor agencies getting involved
with such entiteties.
Based on the allegations made in Africa Confidential, concerning the
ownership of CIB, and the subsequent total black out on such
information, I would like SECO to get the Swiss authorities to start an
investigation of CIB/tt-Timber under the OECD anti corruption
stipulations to which Switzerland appears to be a signatory.
It terrifies me to think what will happen in terms of bush meat once the
road will link the North to Brazzaville, considering that it turned out
to be totally impossible to stop the FLYING OUT, on a weekly basis, of
tons of bush meat including that of gorillas and elephants, on the
flights from Ouesso to Brazzaville. Maybe progress in some ways. A huge
step backwards in other ways. Clearly something the minister would not
want to see documented based on: spying activities.
Best regards
